Chris Payne is a culture journalist who's written for outlets like Vulture, The Ringer, Lit Hub, Stereogum, Grammy.com, and Billboard, where he worked as a staff writer for seven years. Over the years, he's interviewed artists like Billie Eilish, Travis Barker, Pete Wentz, Pusha T, Rivers Cuomo, Sam Smith, Run the Jewels, Mitski, James Murphy, Johnny Marr, and Tegan & Sara. He's also the author of the book Where Are Your Boys Tonight?: The Oral History of Emo’s Mainstream Explosion, 1999-2008. Chris currently lives in Brooklyn.
Leslie Simon (@redpatterndress) is the former managing editor of Alternative Press Magazine, who penned lauded cover stories on bands like My Chemical Romance, Fall Out Boy, and Paramore. She's the co-author of the book Everybody Hurts: An Essential Guide To Emo Culture, in addition to authoring books like Geek Girls Unite: How Fangirls, Bookworms, Indie Chicks And Other Misfits Are Taking Over The World and Wish You Were Here: An Essential Guide To Your Favorite Music Scenes. Leslie currently lives in Los Angeles where she enjoys watching past seasons of This Old House with her rescue pup Stanley Tucci (@stanleytuccithepoochie).
